Ajay /Welcome

Hi there,

My name is Ajay Shrestha. Here you will find bits of information on my academic and professional background. This is also my attempt to experiment with wiki.

I work as a Network/System Administrator for an Internet/Software Company. I am also pursuing Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Bridgeport.

I have a bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering [cum laude] and a master's in Computer Science, both from the University of Bridgeport, in Connecticut. I have over 6 years of cumulative experience at different Tech Companies in Connecticut as System/Network Administrator and Developer [Programmer].

My academic and professional inclination has been in Computer Networking, Security, Parallel/Distributed Processing and Embedded [Microcontroller] System Design. My undergraduate thesis was Implementing various Firewall Architectures and Testing them. I presented it at the ASEE (American Society for Engineering Eductaion) Competition at US Military Academy, Westpoint, NY. While for my masters, I worked on Investigating the effects of WFQ [Weighted Fair Queuing], Voice Encoder Schemes & SAD [Speech Activity Detection] on VoIP [Voice over IP] QoS [Quality of Service]. My recent paper on VoIP has been accepted by CISSE Conference [International Joint Conferences on Computer, Information, and Systems Sciences, and Engineering] and is getting published in its March 2008 Publication, as a book chapter. I am also working on a few other topics/papers.
